"Adolf Hitler being filmed by Eva Braun"
I look to Adolf Hitler with appreciation.
I know what you’re probably beginning to think- ‘this guy’s a Nazi’ or so on. But, to the contrary, i’d be classified as a right-leaning libertarian. So now that that’s off the table, let’s begin.
It seems as if people in society nowadays, and especially on tumblr, see Adolf Hitler as an antichrist, ‘the face of evil’, but let’s look at some of the things he did.
So many of his speeches showed complete devotion to Germany. When he was a child in Austria, he got in trouble multiple times for singing “Deutschlandlied”, or the National Anthem of Germany at the time, instead of the Austrian Imperial
Skipping forward a few years, when he entered office as part of the Nazi/NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei/ National Socialist German Worker’s Party), he made it a goal to stabilize Germany’s economy (and may we remember back to highschool history class, that after WWI, Germans were selling the German Mark as toilet paper due to inflation). He did this. Now, we must remember HOW; one way (besides stimulating the economy by war-related actions, such as rearmament, invasion, etc), was to shame shop owners (many of which happened to be Jewish).
Although this is not right (in the opinion of many, which I share), it worked. In his eyes, there were the Culturally German people, and then everyone else.
Again, not something I agree with in whole, but, as we come back to it, it worked.
Now, the main point. People see Hitler for the crimes against humanity he helped push. Not for his leadership. His ‘brand’ of socialism was one of the only ones that’s ever worked.
I think it’s important to see all sides of history through your own eyes, through the lens of good research from many sources, not through the lens’ of other’s opinions.
Now, just to restate, i’m not a member of the Nazi party, I share very few beliefs with neo-nazis, socially and politically I’m not close to them. My views come from my interpretation of the research i’ve done, coming from primary, secondary, and tertiary sources.
I’m not trying to rewrite the history books, or erase the social stigma attached to his name; merely add to the other side of it. He did some terrible things. But he wasn’t all bad.
My inbox is open. I’m willing to talk about any or all of this with anyone willing to submit a sound opinion.
EDIT: I think it’s also important to at least attempt to make connections to political figures nowadays. Would you elect a leader who would give away your tax dollars to other nations? Would you elect a leader who would be willing to make the place you have the privilege to live in shit for the sake of humanity? There is no right or wrong answer, only opinions.
